About 10 days ago, the workshops and mechanisms of the service directorates in Homs governorate began carrying out the works of opening the main streets, removing the rubble, and rehabilitating the infrastructure destroyed by terrorism in the city of Sukhna, in the Homs desert, in preparation for the return of the people to it.

In statements to Sana Bayn, Director of Technical Services in Homs, Engineer Amin Al-Issa, that the damages in institutions and infrastructure will be assessed after their detection in order to start rehabilitation as soon as possible.

He explained that the partial rehabilitation of government institutions will start after 3 months, in preparation for their gradual return to their work in providing services, pointing out that the removal of rubble and opening streets will take about two weeks.

Regarding the return of drinking water, the Director of Economic Units in the Public Establishment for Drinking Water in Homs, Eng. Daham Al-Saeed, indicated that the water of the city of Sukhna comes from a station that includes a group of wells in the Rawd al-Wahsh area, 40 km from Sukhna. Sokhna is next to the main reservoir at the beginning of the city, and water is delivered to it.

He pointed out that one of the wells is currently being rearranged and rehabilitated to encourage the return of the people, as water will be pumped to it at an abundance of 25 cubic meters per hour until the rest of the wells are maintained, indicating that the water network in Sukhna needs maintenance when the process of investing it and putting it into service.

Regarding the return of communications between the director of the branch of the Syrian Telecom Company in Homs, Eng. Kanaan Juda, that a study was submitted to the Homs Governorate on the return of communications to the Sokhna exchange, which was sabotaged by terrorists, and the cost was estimated at 800 million pounds.

The city of Al-Sukhna is located between the city of Homs and Deir ez-Zor governorate, about 70 km east of Palmyra, and was liberated by the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army from terrorism in August 2017.
