Mr. Eli Birnbaum was elected chairman of the Israeli Paralympic Committee this evening (Wednesday).
Upon his election, Birnbaum said: "I am excited and thrilled by the great privilege that has fallen to me, after the management of the Israeli Paralympic Committee elected me as chairman of the committee.
I would like to thank my friends Dr. Shuki Dekel, the outgoing chairman, for his contribution to Paralympic sports.
The Paralympic Committee is not new to me, for the past two years I have been a full partner in all the programs and activities on the committee, and I am aware of the fact that I have a great responsibility and that the role is challenging and there is a lot of work. "
Members of the Paralympic Committee's board joined in congratulating Dr. Dekel, who is retiring after five years in office, who admitted and wished success to his successor in office.
Birnbaum is a member of the National Committee and the active secretariat of the IDF Disabled People's Organization, a member of the National Sports Council, a member of the Bat Association, and serves as the chairman of the Israeli Disabled Sports Association.
In addition, former MK Moshe Motz Matalon, who previously served as chairman of the IDF Disabled Organization and was a Paralympic athlete, was elected acting chairman.
