The branch of the Foundation for Seed Propagation in Homs began the process of contracting with farmers to plant 13,000 dunums of wheat seed and 6,500 dunams of barley seed for the current winter season.
Engineer Ahmed Youssef Ahmed, director of the branch, stated in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that the expected production of the contracted area of wheat is 5,000 tons of seed, while it is expected to receive 1,000 tons of the contracted area of barley, noting that the contract has been contracted to date on an area of 7,000 acres of wheat and 2,000 dunams. Barley The contracting process is carried out according to an agricultural organization provided by the farmer, with the aim of implementing the plan set by the institution.
Regarding potato seeds, Ahmed confirmed that the quantities of imported potato seeds that were subscribed to by farmers amounted to 435 tons of the type (Asponta - Farida), which is expected to be planted next February, pointing out that the subscription process is carried out according to conditions that include the payment of an advance of one million pounds from Each farmer has subscribed pending import of the seed and determining the actual value of each ton of the said potato seed.
The establishment sterilized and screened 3,500 tons of hard and soft wheat seeds and 200 tons of barley to sell to farmers, while the selling price for one kilogram of wheat was set at 1,585 Syrian pounds and 1,743 pounds per kilogram of barley.
