Nuremberg - Two new regional kindergartens were opened in Nuremberg * in a short time.

The municipal building construction department set up both care facilities at the same time from June 2019 to May 2021. A total of 200 children can be cared for in the kindergartens.

According to a message from the town hall, one kindergarten is located at Großreuther Straße 115c and is operated by noris inklusion GmbH, a second is managed by the youth welfare office of the city of Nuremberg at Zugspitzstraße 175.

Both facilities are already in operation.

Nuremberg: Less and less free space in the city

"With the quick completion of the two new facilities, we have again taken an important step towards needs-based care in early childhood education, care and upbringing," explains Elisabeth Ries, advisor for youth, family and social affairs. "We want and have to guarantee a kindergarten place for every child in Nuremberg." Given that there is less and less free space in the densely built-up urban area, regional kindergartens with a larger catchment area are a good addition to the district-specific offer, Ries continues.

Comparable projects of this size normally require a much more detailed planning lead-time and also a longer construction period, the report said.

Most of the buildings are made of carbon dioxide (CO2) -neutral, renewable raw materials.

The focus here is on the material wood, which was used both as a skeleton and in interior construction.

Nuremberg: Kindergartens are barrier-free

According to the city of Nuremberg, the two two-storey buildings are barrier-free.

The outdoor play areas were designed with terraces, planting areas, lawns and sand areas.

With the help of manually operated awnings, the children can play safely even on hot days.
