Father Régis Spinoza, accused of inflicting violence and humiliation on about fifty students of the private school outside the contract that he led in the Cher, was sentenced to three years in prison on Wednesday by the court correctional of Bourges. According to the multitude of testimonies from minors, but also from teachers and volunteers, bullying, humiliation, beatings and drudgery were numerous within the boarding school, which welcomed students from primary to high school, some of them in boarding school. Two supervisors, also judged for less violence, were more lightly condemned: 6 months of reprieve for one, a dispensation of sentence for the other. In another part of the case, Father Spinoza was found guilty of having recourse to hidden work within the establishment, in particular for certain teachers. He was ordered to pay some 100,000 euros in damages to Urssaf, corresponding to social contributions evaded during the prevention period. The former director did not appear for the judgment statement.
