In support of distinguished innovative project owners, Tartous Governorate honored the seventeen winners of the Al-Basel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention, which was held on the twenty-fourth of last October.

Engineer Mohamed Ibrahim, who won the gold medal for the biochar project for multiple purposes, indicated that the feasibility of the project comes from the need for organic and chemical fertilizers, in addition to the fact that the mechanism of the device is simple and can be generalized. The agricultural engineer, Safaa Shahoud, who won the first place, confirmed that she relied in her project on some types of earthworms to produce organic fertilizer, which is a new method for producing fertilizer necessary for agriculture and improving soil quality.

Engineer Dima Salama presented her project to solve waste problems through sanitary landfills and use it to generate energy through wax-treated sand in a safe way while protecting the soil from pollution.

The governor of Tartous, lawyer Safwan Abu Saadi, stressed the importance of teamwork and bright cadres that characterize the governorate, and the need to pay attention to these projects because of their economic importance.

In turn, Woroud Suleiman, director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority branch in the governorate, considered that these projects are of high value, and that four of them were presented through the authority in advanced positions, which is evidence of the interest in creators and innovators, noting that these projects are followed up with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Tartous to discuss the possibility of adopting and realizing them on the land.
