Italy's anti-monopoly authority has imposed hundreds of millions of euros in fines on Amazon and Apple.
According to a statement issued by the authority, an investigation found that the terms of a contract dating back to November 31, 2018, prevented official and unofficial retailers from selling original Apple products and the associated Beats brand on Amazon.
The authority indicated that this means that only Amazon itself and individual sellers selected by Apple were allowed to sell products there, stressing that this behavior violates European Union law.
Amazon is scheduled to pay 68.7 million euros in fines, while Apple will pay 134.5 million euros, according to the commission's decision.
