Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov denounced the attempts by foreign powers to destabilize the situation in Cuba.
Russia Today website quoted Lavrov as saying during his meeting in Moscow today with Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Caprisas: "We strongly condemn the ongoing attempts, such as the color revolutions, made by external forces to destabilize the political situation on Liberty Island."
Lavrov expressed Moscow's readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to Havana in line with the close friendly relations between the two countries, stressing the firmness of Moscow and Havana's rejection of unilateral sanctions in violation of the United Nations Charter and the applicable principles and rules of international law.
During the meeting, a framework for the substantive exchange of views on the pivotal elements of the international and regional agenda was defined.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel announced earlier that the US embassy in his country was engaged in subversive activities, which it has intensified in recent times.
