In preparation for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which will be marked tomorrow (Thursday), Naamat has launched videos that are difficult to watch but very important.

The association explained that this year they decided to emphasize the place of the children, and the severe harm to them, when according to studies, one in ten children in Israel is exposed to domestic violence.

There is no doubt that exposure to domestic violence is another type of child abuse, and that living under the shadow of violence and fear is an emotional abuse of them, even in cases where no physical violence is used against them.

According to the organization, many studies in Israel and around the world indicate that children who have been exposed to domestic violence are at high risk of developing emotional, behavioral, social and academic problems.

The videos are all from the point of view of the child watching and experiencing the toxic dynamics in his family, and they all end with a focus on the boy or girl who remains gathered in their thoughts and feelings.

Naamat chairman Hagit Peer explained that "about 200,000 women in Israel live in the cycle of violence, in addition to hundreds of thousands of children who experience physical, mental or other violence."

"We have decided to bring to the forefront those children, many of whom remain gathered with their experiences, as a complementary public move to a bill they have initiated and promoted these days which stipulates that the very presence of a minor during a violent incident in his home will be a serious offense." The minor who was at the scene at the time of the crime, "Peer said.

"It is important to understand that children who are exposed to violence in their home may become violent men or women who are victims of violence in adulthood."
