The traffic committee of the district council of Erding decides on a new roundabout on the B 15 near St. Wolfgang.

This would defuse a particularly dangerous intersection.

Erding

- The descent on the ED 18 down to the B 15 on the northern edge of St. Wolfgang would be a grueling toboggan run for winter sports enthusiasts.

But even for motorists, these 400-meter sloping straight are not without risk.

That is why there has been discussion for years about easing the intersection with the main road at the end of this racetrack.

The members of the district transport committee inspected the situation on a bus trip in the eastern district on Monday. The majority was convinced: the committee voted against the votes of the two Green district councils for the roundabout, which the St. Wolfgang municipal council also supports.

In the past, a bridge was even planned to be looped into the main road, but met resistance in St. Wolfgang and, like other plans, failed because of the purchase of the land. Now the issue was again up for debate at the district level. The state building authority had proposed to re-asphalt the district road, which was in dire need of renovation. District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer (CSU) thought little of this consolidation of the status quo. The intersection had already proven to be a hotspot for accidents "and may get worse in the future," he said. “The road has acquired a new meaning as a diversion for the A 94.” He therefore pleaded for a solution to the traffic problem.

Mayor Ullrich Gaigl also came to the debate - first at the on-site meeting in the drizzle next to ED 18 and then in the cozy community center Schönbrunn with excellent hospitality.

He urged that the roundabout be closed further north.

To do this, a piece of ED 18 must be laid in the direction of Lappach.

However, only two basic owners are affected and no longer six as in earlier plans.

These lines require 12,000 square meters of ground, about half of what was previously planned, explained Gaigl.

Another stop on this district road driving in the coach was a focus of the accident with a terrible balance: the intersection of the district roads ED 26 and ED 13 near Jakobrettenbach (municipality of Taufkirchen).

There have been ten accidents there in the past six years, with one dead, two seriously injured and eleven slightly injured, reported Felix Krötz, the responsible department head at the state building authority, to the district councilors.

According to Krötz, the danger zone will be defused: “A roundabout is to be built here in 2023.” When planning the roundabout with an outer diameter of 35 meters, it was taken into account that the community wanted to build a footpath and cycle path between Taufkirchen and Moosen.

The work would take the entire construction season from March 2023, explained Krötz.

It should be clarified whether a full closure is necessary for this.

The committee members also visited the bridge over the B 15 near Hohenpolding.

The district financed the structure to 46 percent, the rest of the federal government, reported Krötz on site.

If the weather is right, the construction site could be completed this year.

That depends on the weather, explained Krötz: "Two days have to be over five degrees for that."

The construction team needs the right temperatures for the final measure, the ceiling construction on ED 31, i.e. on the bridge over the federal road.

“We'll make sure we're finished by Christmas,” reported Christian Holbl, building supervisor at the state building authority and city council in Dorfen, to the district councilors.

The road users on the B 15 should already have completely free travel in the coming week.

After the railings had been installed on Monday, the paving continued at the bottom of the embankment.

The construction site started about a year ago, reported Holbl.

Because of the difficult subsoil, the foundation was built with 15 meter long bored piles.

A total of 210 cubic meters of concrete were used.
