A NASA spacecraft that will deliberately collide with an asteroid successfully took off.
The DART mission, or Double Asteroid Redirection Test, lifted off at 10:21 p.m. PT on Tuesday (1:21 a.m. ET Wednesday) aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
