Opponents of vaccination claim that clinics test Covid patients for antibodies and declare them as "unvaccinated" if the values are low.
Hospitals in Bavaria vehemently object.
Nuremberg - The rumor persists: Opponents and skeptics of vaccinations claim on the Internet that hospitals, when they admit Covid patients, do an antibody test by default.
If the value is low, it is claimed, the patient will be included in the statistics as "unvaccinated" - even if he has been vaccinated against the coronavirus.
In this way, the number of those who are unvaccinated with Covid 19 disease in Bavaria's hospitals is being driven up.
Unvaccinated on the Corona ward: This is how the status in the clinics is created
Nordbayern.de
investigated
this rumor
for the Nuremberg region *.
An extensive survey of nine hospitals in the region gave a clear picture: No clinic does standard corona antibody tests to record the vaccination status of patients.
(By the way: our Nuremberg newsletter regularly informs you about all the important stories from the Franconian metropolis. Register here.)
At the Nuremberg Clinic, for example, the patient is asked when they are admitted whether they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus * and the proof of vaccination can be shown.
If the sick person is no longer able to do this, relatives are contacted.
This is how the hospital reports to
nordbayern.de
.
In the Theresienkrankenhaus in Nuremberg they proceed in exactly the same way, an antibody test is not done, this would anyway "not give a clear result," said a spokeswoman.
A patient is only considered unvaccinated if he has not been (fully) vaccinated
According to
nordbayern.de, the
same procedure is used
in clinics in Fürth * or Erlangen *.
You are considered vaccinated everywhere if you have what is known as complete vaccination protection, i.e. if you have received the second dose of Biontech / Moderna / Astrazeneca or a dose of Johnson & Johnson for at least two weeks.
In other words, unvaccinated in all clinics surveyed are patients who have not been vaccinated or not fully vaccinated against the coronavirus *.
The University Hospital Erlangen explains, however, that in certain cases an antibody detection is made, for example to record and also to document for further research, if someone has not formed any antibodies despite the vaccination.
The patient is then still considered vaccinated.
Incidentally, all of the clinics surveyed emphasize that the vaccination status has no influence on the treatment.
The pandemic officer at the Fürth Clinic puts it this way: “As everywhere, the very clearly defined ethical principle applies to us: If a person needs help, he will be helped.
Always! ”
