He retired even before the announcement of his colt's candidacy ... Charles Gave, a millionaire who granted a loan of 300,000 euros to the polemicist at the end of September, decided to withdraw from Eric Zemmour's campaign, reports BFMTV.
“He's a big boy.
Now he is at 17% in the polls.
He no longer needs me, ”he explains to the channel.
Charles Gave shares with BFMTV his “deepest admiration” for Eric Zemmour.
If he withdraws, he specifies, it is not linked to “disagreements”.
Truly ?
Charles Gave, 78, defends an exit from the euro when Eric Zemmour would not be in favor, preferring to defend France's place within the European Union.
The loan of discord?
Another explanation for this departure, reported by Le Point: the loan of 300,000 euros cannot for the time being be used by Eric Zemmour for his campaign.
"The appeal of a political party for loans from natural persons must clearly be intended to finance the party, and not a candidate for the presidential election," explains the National Campaign Accounts Commission to the weekly.
Loaned to the association Les Amis d'Éric Zemmour, which has neither premises nor employees, this money is therefore unusable today by the potential candidate for primary school.
"These are 300,000 euros that we risk never seeing again", laments to the Point a relative of the millionaire.
The financier had also wanted to ensure that it would be able to be repaid before making this loan, recalls BFMTV.
