Russian President Vladimir Putin and European Council President Charles Michel stressed the need for coordination of relations between the European Union and Belarus.

The two sides stressed, during a telephone conversation, according to what Russia Today reported, the importance of finding an early solution to the migration crisis on the basis of international humanitarian law standards and the appropriateness of establishing a systematic dialogue between the European Union and Minsk, as agreed upon in the phone calls of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with the acting German Chancellor Angela Merkel. .

Putin noted the counterproductive intentions of European countries to impose regular sanctions against Belarus and drew attention to the facts of the use of water cannons, tear gas, stun grenades and other special equipment by the Polish security forces against migrants.

Regarding Ukraine, the two sides stressed that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements as a basis for a settlement. Putin expressed his concern over the continued provocations of the Ukrainian side aimed at escalating the situation on the line of contact, pointing out the need to end Kiev's discriminatory policy against the Russian-speaking population, which violates Ukraine's international obligations.
