Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the total use of substances disrupting the ozone layer in Russian industry will be reduced by 20 percent early next year.

Mishustin confirmed in a statement published on the official website of the Russian Prime Minister today that the emission of disruptive substances to the ozone layer will be reduced from 363 to 291 metric tons in 2022, explaining that next year only two destructive substances will be allowed to be used in Russia, namely (Defluor chlormotzan) and (Flordellorten). And in certain proportions.

The statement added that the total use of materials that negatively affect the state of the ozone layer will decrease significantly during the next year, as the use of chemicals based on chlorine and bromine that are used in various fields of industry will be reduced.

These steps come in the context of Russia's commitment to the 1985 Vienna Convention on the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on the Prevention of Substances that Destroy the Ozone Layer adopted in 1987.
