The accident occurred on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

According to PI Neufahrn, the husband (75) had opened the manhole cover on the couple's property to close a valve over the winter.

Just as he went into the barn a few meters away to fetch a pipe wrench, the woman came out of the house by chance, overlooked the open area and fell into the shaft.

The 75-year-old only noticed the accident when he wanted to close the valve and made an emergency call.

The conscious woman was rescued from the shaft by means of a winch.

With head and shoulder injuries, she was flown to a Munich clinic.

In addition to a PI Neufahrn patrol, the Neufahrn and Mintraching fire brigades were also on duty with a total of five vehicles and 38 people.
