Syrian-Omani talks in Muscat on bilateral relations and ways to enhance them

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, discussed with Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the “Watan Document” Foundation, the relations between Syria and the Sultanate of Oman and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and developments on the regional and international arenas.

According to the Oman News Agency, Dr. Shaaban conveyed, during the meeting in Muscat today, the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman. She also noted the discussions she held with Omani officials because of their positive results in terms of supporting the existing cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. Shaaban expressed her great pleasure over her visit and the accompanying delegation to the Sultanate of Oman and the development of relations in various fields, praising the Omani experience in managing national documents and archives and historical studies.

For his part, Ibn Mahmoud Al Said expressed his wishes for more progress and development for the Syrian leadership and people, stressing that the Sultanate of Oman pays all attention to preserving heritage as it is a historical memory so that successive generations can have a permanent knowledge of the cultural heritage.

The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Salem bin Muhammad Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al Dhawani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority, in addition to the Syrian ambassador in Muscat, Dr. Bassam Al Khatib.
