The words of Íngrid Betancourt to former FARC members 4:59
(CNN Spanish) -
The State Department notified Congress on Tuesday that it is considering some decisions about the FARC, the Colombian guerrilla group classified as a terrorist organization by the United States, a day before the 5-year-old agreement it signed with the government of then president Juan Manuel Santos to lay down his arms.
Ned Price, a spokesman for the State Department, did not give details of the measures they are preparing.
"The peace agreement ended five decades of conflict with the FARC and set Colombia on the path to a just and lasting peace," the US spokesman added.
However, The Wall Street Journal, citing Congressional sources with knowledge of the matter, anticipated that it would be the departure of the FARC from the list of terrorist organizations in the North American country.

CNN has tried to contact the US Government about this information, but has not yet received a response.

In Colombia the reactions have not been long in coming.
Defense Minister Diego Molano said that, if confirmed, it is an "obvious and normal decision" arguing that the FARC is now a political party.
Molano added that it is the FARC dissidents that continue to act as a terrorist group.
