The government announced yesterday (23rd) that the new policy of compulsory use of "travel with peace of mind" will be extended to all premises regulated by the epidemic prevention ordinance, and restaurants, fitness rooms, cinemas, etc. will not be spared.

3 One day after the announcement of the new measures, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data issued a paper this afternoon (24th) stating that a total of 49 complaints about "Paper Fillers" have been received since the implementation of "Travel with Peace" one year ago, and investigations have been completed so far. Of the 30 complaints, 15 complaints were substantiated, all of which were restaurants. Enforcement notices have been issued to the 15 restaurants involved.

The department also received two complaints about the disclosure of travel records by "Traveling with Peace", all of which were found to be unfounded, emphasizing that the program's access to personal data is a practical operation, but there is no evidence that it has a tracking function.

Commissioner Zhong Liling emphasized that using "Travel with peace of mind" provides more protection for privacy.

The Privacy Office issued a statement today stating that since the launch of "Travel with Peace" on November 16 last year, a total of 49 complaints about "Paper Fillers" have been received, involving 31 restaurants and 18 other premises, including commercial buildings, Clinics, private clubs, recreational venues, etc.

The Department has completed investigations into 30 of these cases, and 15 complaints were substantiated. All of them were related to the data security situation of the "paper-fillers" of restaurants, accounting for half of the investigated cases.

The authorities have issued enforcement notices to the 15 restaurants involved, requesting them to take appropriate and practicable measures to protect customers' registration information.

In addition, the Privacy Office also received two complaints related to "Travel with peace of mind" in the same period. The complainant was worried that the program might leak his whereabouts and that the program had too much access to data. After investigation, the department ruled that the two complaints were unfounded. It is believed that there is no evidence that the program has any location tracking function, and its access to data is only an actual operation.

Privacy Commissioner Chung Lai-ling believes that from the perspective of protecting the privacy of personal data, "Travel with peace of mind" storing data on your smartphone is much safer than filling in papers daily and handing over personal data to different locations.
