Two Chinese drugs to treat the Corona virus have entered the stage of clinical trials in humans.
Xinhua quoted Shen Jingshan, a researcher at the Shanghai Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as saying that "one of the two candidate drugs taken orally is an anti-coronavirus, and it has given promising results in animal models," noting that the drug showed significant inhibitory activity against the original corona strain and the variant strain such as Delta. in laboratory tests.
"The drug has been approved for the first time for clinical trials in Uzbekistan," said Shen Jingshan, a researcher at the institute, noting that trials are also underway in China.
The second candidate drug is called (FP 2001), a new compound designed and manufactured based on the main protein enzyme of the Corona virus, a key enzyme that plays a pivotal role in the replication of the virus.
Researcher Liu Hong said preclinical research also showed that the compound showed strong inhibitory activity against the virus.
