"We look forward to working with the new German government on our goals of revitalizing the transatlantic partnership, strengthening cooperation with our allies within NATO and renewed ambition in our relations with the European Union,"
said a spokesperson for American diplomacy told AFP.
The American government of Joe Biden had displayed a great proximity to Germany of Chancellor Angela Merkel, manhandled for four years by the previous President of the United States, Donald Trump.
The conservative leader will leave power to make way for a social democratic chancellor, Olaf Scholz.
"Germany is one of the most loyal allies of the United States,"
said the American official, referring to relations founded on
"the shared values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law".
“We strongly expect that relations between the United States and Germany will remain incredibly close and concrete,”
he added.
