2021-11-25T21:16:55.686Z

Epidemics and major catastrophic events have in the past led to other negative effects, such as an outbreak of depression and mental illness.

The Israel Today newspaper will hold the first Israel Mental Resilience Conference in Israel on Tuesday, December 7.

This is a conference that will deal with the psychological consequences of the closures and the corona virus on the youth in the country, and at its center will be presented one of the quiet epidemics that has occurred in the last two years - the epidemic of depression - and the outbreak of mental illness.

As is known from the literature and the world of research, major epidemics and catastrophic events that the world experienced, such as the Spanish flu epidemic of the early 20th century, were followed by other adverse effects, such as the onset of depression and mental illness.

Following this understanding, the newspaper "Israel Hayom" initiated a huge conference on the subject in order to put it on the agenda, and prevent it from being neglected due to the load of events and questions of the hour that Israeli society faces around the clock.

The important conference, which will be held next week at the Zappa Midtown Club in Tel Aviv and will be broadcast live on the website and in the "Israel Hayom" app, will be opened by the newspaper's editor Boaz Bismuth, followed by the wife of President Michal Herzog.

In the future, five sessions will be held at the conference, which will deal with the various aspects of the mental problems that adolescents in Israel face, as well as society as a whole.

The people who will chair the sessions will be the reporters of "Israel Today" - Ran Reznik, Meital Yasur Beit-Or, Daniel Roth-Avnery who will also chair the conference, Ran Pony, Shir Ziv and Jackie Levy.

During the conference, Prof. Zion Hagai, Chairman of the Israel Medical Association, will speak.

From vaccination to resilience

The first session will be honored in his presence by Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, who will also be interviewed by journalist Ran Reznik on the subject of "vaccination for resilience."

This session will feature a dialogue with the participation of MK Michal Waldiger (Religious Zionism) and MK Michal Rosin (Meretz), who serve as heads of the Mental Health Lobby in the Knesset.

Members of the Knesset will be joined by Dr. Ilan Tal, psychiatrist and director of the Dr. Tal Center for Emotional and Mental Support, and Dr. Gilad Bodenheimer, director of mental health at Maccabi Health Services.

In the second session, called "Crossing the Border," the president of the "Elem" association, Nava Barak-Singer, will speak, who will talk about the effects of the corona on the youth on the margins of society.
