Firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the fire. An 80-year-old man with the surname Zeng was found lying in the room in the unit. He fell into a coma and was taken to Renji Hospital by ambulance.
During the incident, another elderly woman felt unwell and was sent to the hospital for treatment.
About 70 people were evacuated to a safe place during the incident.
The preliminary fire investigation believed that the fire was suspicious. The case was arson and was handed over to the Second Team of the Criminal Investigation Team of the Kwai Tsing District Police District for follow-up.
