The decision of the city and advertising group met with a lot of criticism: Now the Sunday shopping in Wolfratshausen on the 1st of Advent has to be canceled.

The decision of the city and advertising group met with a lot of criticism: Now the Sunday shopping in Wolfratshausen on the 1st of Advent has to be canceled.

Wolfratshausen

- In the Flößerstadt there will be neither an Advent market nor a Sunday shopping on November 28th.

Marlis Peischer, press spokeswoman for the district office, made this clear on Wednesday when our newspaper asked.

Peischer referred to the current Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance.

Accordingly, no markets are currently allowed in the Free State.

“At the same time, however, a market is the legal basis for Sunday shopping to take place,” said the spokeswoman for the authorities.

That means: If the Advent market is not allowed to take place, there is no legal basis for retailers to be allowed to open their shops on Sundays.

District office did not have to make a decision in this specific case

"So in this case we didn't make any decisions," emphasized Peischer.

The Ordinance on Protective Measures is clearly formulated.

As reported, the city and the Werbekreis Shopping City Wolfratshausen jointly decided to hold a small market and a Sunday shopping on the 1st of Advent.

Despite strict rules, including a ban on alcohol, the decision was criticized by many citizens in view of the extremely high incidence in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district.

"Unfortunately have to cancel"

On Wednesday evening our newspaper received the following press release from the market master of the city of Wolfratshausen, David Wehner: “Unfortunately, we have to cancel the Advent market next Sunday. The city of Wolfratshausen and the Werbekreis have tried everything so that the market can take place. Although only a few stalls were planned without road closures and without alcohol, we were forbidden to hold them by the district office in Bad Tölz. This means that the Advent market and thus also the Sunday shopping on November 28th is canceled. "

The report of November 23:

The Corona * incidence in Bavaria is increasing continuously, in many hospitals there is a red alert in view of the full intensive care units. As reported, the state government has banned all Christmas markets, the lights go out in the pubs from Wednesday at 10 p.m., bars and discos must close by at least December 15th. Nevertheless, the city of Wolfratshausen and the advertising group hold on to Sunday shopping, framed by a small Advent market. In the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, the incidence is currently 725.

"A nice alternative for our popular Christmas market" has been found, says the advertising group for the campaign on November 28th, the coming 1st Advent.

The shops are open from 12 noon to 5 p.m., on Marienplatz and on the old raft landing some dealers offer Christmas products from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

It will be a little fair.

Hans-Joachim Kunstmann, chairman of the advertising group for the Wolfratshausen shopping district

“It's going to be a little market”, emphasizes the chairman of Werbekreiskaufstadt Wolfratshausen, Hans-Joachim Kunstmann, in an interview with our newspaper. A Sunday shopping must be combined with a public market, otherwise the district office will not approve it. “We fulfill this formal requirement”, but the project has nothing in common with the traditional Christmas market in the old town. The focus is on stationary retail, which has been "badly shaken" since the outbreak of the corona pandemic. The notorious "eating and drinking riots" will not take place on Sunday. This presumably shortens the length of stay of the visitors and prevents large crowds. Kunstmann attaches great importance to the fact that the city and the advertising district "uncompromisingly removed everything that the pandemic could promote" when planning. This includes: The serving of alcohol is prohibited. Kunstmann appeals to the visitors to think about their FFP2 masks, to test themselves beforehand and to observe the distance rule.

Advent market in Wolfratshausen takes place: Not all Werbekreis members support the decision

Shopping is allowed six times a week, Kunstmann sees no reason “why it should be forbidden the seventh time”.

The goal is to "tie purchasing power to our beautiful city" at the beginning of Advent.

Instead of falling into "paralysis", the municipality and advertising group would react "intelligently and responsibly" to the current situation.

“You can believe me: We thought very hard about it,” says Kunstmann.

(Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Wolfratshausen-Geretsried newsletter.)

The chairman of the Werbekreis does not hide the fact that there are skeptics in the ranks of the member companies. In their eyes, a Sunday shopping is the wrong signal given the current signs. “We approach the whole thing with great personal responsibility, so that it won't harm anyone, but only helps the stationary trade,” replies Kunstmann. “We are well aware of our responsibility.” His point of view is: “Only if everyone goes crazy will something happen.” Kunstmann dares to predict that customer frequency “will correspond to a normal Saturday”. He does not expect hosts from all over the Oberland. Against this background, the advertising group decided not to advertise the campaign beyond the borders of the rafting town.

High corona numbers in Bavaria: Wolfratshausen town hall chief admits - "I'm not quite comfortable."

Town hall chief Klaus Heilinglechner speaks of a "mini market" that he can approve.

According to him, fewer than a handful of wooden booths are being built, and police checks are to be expected.

He frankly admits: “I'm not quite well.” In view of the fact that the clinics hardly have any capacity left, the mayor calls again: “Get vaccinated!” Why he gave his blessing to the cooperation event on Sunday Has?

On the one hand, the stationary trade "urgently needs our support in the second Corona Christmas business in a row," said the town hall chief.

And: The city wants to “give a sign to those who have been vaccinated” - and to have been assured that they will be able to enjoy more freedom again this winter.
