Almost ten months after a speeding accident with three dead companions, the public prosecutor has brought charges against the 21-year-old driver of the rented sports car.
The allegation is on forbidden motor vehicle races with fatal consequences and endangerment of road traffic, as announced on Thursday.
Berlin - The 21-year-old is said to have driven at least 150 kilometers per hour in the 450-hp car on the evening of February 2nd “in difficult road and visibility conditions”, including through a 30-speed zone at Treptower Park.
According to the indictment, the driver lost control of the car, got off the road and hit a tree head-on.
The car was torn apart by the force of the impact and started to burn.
Firefighters found debris 100 meters away from the scene of the accident.

The driver was only slightly injured.

According to earlier information, 1,500 criminal proceedings - including those against unknown persons - were initiated from October 2017 to October 2020.
300 speeders were convicted.
Some experts advocate a tiered driving license that is initially only valid for young novice drivers for cars with little horsepower.
