Parents who accompany their offspring in pediatric and adolescent practices do not need a Corona test certificate. The North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Health (MAGS) made this clear on Thursday after considerable unrest among paediatricians. A spokeswoman for the MAGS told the German press agency that people accompanying patients do not have to be tested for the coronavirus before entering a practice or when visiting a doctor.

Parents who accompany their offspring in pediatric and adolescent practices do not need a Corona test certificate. The North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Health (MAGS) made this clear on Thursday after considerable unrest among paediatricians. Accompanying persons of patients do not have to be tested for the coronavirus before entering a practice or when visiting a doctor, said a spokeswoman for the MAGS of the German press agency.

Düsseldorf - According to the Federal Infection Protection Act passed last week, “employers, employees and visitors” are only allowed to enter medical practices if they have been tested and can prove it.

"In isolated cases, a general test obligation for people accompanying patients, for example in pediatric practices, has already been derived from this," said MAGS in Düsseldorf.

But: Accompanying persons such as parents, legal guardians or caregivers are treated people - i.e. patients - to be equated, explained the spokeswoman.

And patients do not have to be tested in order to gain access to the practices - this was previously generally accepted as undisputed.

No more free intensive care bed in 21 Bavarian municipalities

On Wednesday, less than ten percent of the intensive care beds were free in over half of the 96 districts and larger cities in Bavaria, according to the Divi intensive care register.

Of these, 21 municipalities reported that the intensive care units were fully occupied except for the last bed.

NRW Prime Minister Wüst against compulsory corona vaccination

Despite the skyrocketing corona numbers, North Rhine-Westphalia's Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) has spoken out against compulsory vaccination.

Several thousand people had their first vaccinations every day.

That shows that arguments for the vaccination were still working, said Wüst on Thursday on the radio station WDR5.

He does not share the view that every person who has not yet been vaccinated is a “massive refusal to vaccinate”.

The MAGS reacted by clarifying the outrage and confusion among the paediatricians, who had assumed that accompanying parents had to test and criticized this as completely impractical.

The "Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" had previously reported on the explanations from the MAGS.
