In the summer of 1970, a reserve force was ambushed by terrorists, who fired a bazooka missile at them.

An 80-year-old combat fighter and paramedic, who suffers from hearing problems and ringing in his ears, was recognized as an IDF invalid 51 years after he was hit as a result of a bazooka missile fired at him when he encountered an ambush by Fatah terrorists.

This was decided following a lawsuit he filed with the Ministry of Defense's Remuneration Officer, through attorney Lior Sulami of the Markman law firms and Tomshin.

In the summer of 1970 a force of reservists encountered an ambush of terrorists firing at the Bazooka missile force.

The force of the explosion injured the fighter in the eardrum and caused a puncture in his left ear.

Since that incident, the soldier testified, he began to suffer from hearing loss and beeps that bother him and make it very difficult for him in daily life.

Following the filing of the lawsuit, the Ministry of Defense appointed an expert on his behalf who examined the medical history and it became clear that before the incident, the soldier suffered from a hearing-affecting disease and there was concern that the Ministry of Defense would dismiss the lawsuit.

"We were able to convince the Defense Ministry expert that the hearing disease he suffered from before the missile exploded is not the sole cause of the hearing and wheezing problems (tinnitus) he currently suffers from, since the explosion hit his left ear while the disease he suffered developed in his right ear," explains Adv. Lior Ladders how they managed to convince the committee.

Adv. Lior Sulmi,

The expert determined that the bazooka missile that landed near him caused a tear in the left eardrum, while leaving hearing damage, adding that he estimates half of the hearing problems and ringing in the elderly person's ears to the missile incident from 51 years ago.

The expert noted in his opinion that he attributes the hole in the eardrum in full to the explosion of the missile near the soldier.

Following the expert's opinion, the elderly man was recognized as an IDF invalid and will be summoned in the coming days to a medical committee that will determine the degree of disability he suffers from and accordingly determine the amount of compensation or benefit to which he will be entitled for life.
