The Directorate of Theaters and Music in the Ministry of Culture announced the results of the theatrical text competition, in both parts, for adults and children, in its first session, as part of the activities of the Syrian Culture Days.
In the texts directed to adults, the text of the play (Hot Night) by colleague Muhammad Samir Tahan came in first place, and in the second place the text of the play (The Basement) by Muhammad Suleiman Hammoud, and the third place was shared by the text of two plays (Heroes Without Weapon) by Nagham Ahmed Agha and (For the City, Bab Waheed) by Rahaf Muhammad Ghadeer.
As for the texts directed to children, the text of the play (My Siddiqi) by Maysoon Abdel Aziz Omran won the first place, the second place was the text of the play (Zahret al-Mahaba) by Muhammad Suleiman Hammoud, and the third text of the play (The World of Music) by Ruba Adel Abel.
The winning texts will be published in the Theatrical Life magazine and will be included in the directorate's work plan to produce and convert them into shows, in addition to financial prizes for the authors of the winning texts.
The jury included Maysoon Ali, professor of theater and dramaturgy, editor-in-chief of Theatrical Life magazine, Joanne Jean, and theater critic Mustafa Al-Aboud.
This competition comes within the Ministry’s plan to activate the cultural movement and encourage writers to present new texts to revitalize the theatrical movement and enrich the Syrian theater library with works of a creative level while allowing the discovery of new talents in this literary genre.
