An arson incident occurred in a unit on the 17th floor of Shek Sau Building, Shek Lei (1) Village, Kwai Chung. The 80-year-old Zeng man, who was in a coma and was sent to hospital for emergency treatment, suffered an arson incident until 8:15 in the evening and died of his injuries. Kwai Tsing Police District Criminal investigators are following the direction of the arson case. It is understood that the investigators have not yet been able to determine the point of the fire and the cause of the fire.

The unit that caused the accident has not been unblocked, and the relevant personnel will return to the scene tomorrow (26th) morning for further investigation.


There was an elderly couple living in the fire unit. The male head of the household was 80-year-old with the surname Zeng, and the female head of the household was 77-year-old with the same surname. The two have 3 sons, and both moved elsewhere.

The fire broke out at 7:41 this morning. The units on the scene burst out of smoke and flames were emitted from the window near the toilet. Neighbors reported the incident and evacuated.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to fight the blaze and put out the fire at 8:07 in the morning. He was found unconscious on the floor of the unit's toilet and the head of the household was Zeng.

It is understood that at the time of the incident, only the male head of the household was in the house. Afterwards, the 77-year-old former wife returned from outside. He saw the unit burned and her husband was seriously injured and admitted to the hospital. After the incident, assist the police to understand the case.

After investigating the fire site, the firefighters believed that the fire was suspicious because there was no natural cause of the fire. They were handed over to the police for further investigation and the arson case was dealt with.

The incident occurred at 7:41 am today (25th). The police received multiple reports that a fire broke out in a high-rise unit in Shek Sau House, Shek Lei (1) Village, Kwai Chung, and a lot of smoke was emitted.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the fire. An 80-year-old man named Zeng was found lying on the toilet in the unit. He fell into a coma and was taken to Renji Hospital by ambulance. He was in critical condition and died at night.

During the incident, another elderly woman felt unwell and was sent to the hospital for treatment.

About 70 people were evacuated to a safe place during the incident.

The preliminary fire investigation believed that the fire was suspicious. The case was arson and was handed over to Team 2 of the Criminal Investigation Team of the Kwai Tsing District Police District for follow-up.

No one has been arrested yet.



Mr. Chen, a resident of Shixiu Tower, said that there was a fire and heavy smoke in the unit opposite him at the time of the incident, and the entire corridor was dark. He immediately closed the door and called the police for help.

Mr. Chen said that when circumstances permitted, he took his love cat "Meow" to escape immediately, and a neighborhood patted the door to tell others to escape.
