Belarus announced today the start of joint air patrols with the Russian army along its borders.
The Belarusian Ministry of Defense stated, in a statement reported by Russia Today, that it had decided to increase the number of air defense forces and to conduct joint patrols with the Russian Air Force in the airspace above the state borders.
The ministry pointed out that this decision comes against the backdrop of the intensification of flights of various types of aviation near the Belarus border in order to prevent border breaches, stressing that a tactical group comprising Belarusian and Russian Su-30SM fighters today carried out a joint air patrol along the country's borders.
This comes against the backdrop of the continuing crisis of migrants wishing to enter the European Union who found themselves stranded at the Belarus border with Poland.
