When President Joe Biden had a colonoscopy last week, a single 3mm polyp was removed.
On Wednesday, his doctor reported that tests on the polyp revealed that it is a tubular adenoma, a slow-growing benign lesion believed to be potentially precancerous.
The president's physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, said it is similar to a polyp that had been removed from Biden in 2008, noting that no further action is required at this time.
O'Connor said routine surveillance was recommended for the finding and that Biden should have his next colonoscopy in 7 to 10 years.
This report comes after Biden temporarily transferred power, for an hour and 25 minutes, to Vice President Kamala Harris on November 19, when she was under anesthesia for a routine colonoscopy.
