The break-in season begins in November, the police know it. But this year the number of cases is increasing enormously: in the Starnberg area alone there have been 14 break-ins into houses and apartments since the beginning of the month.

That is why the officers are now increasingly on patrol.

County - The pandemic and policies have had an impact on almost everything. Even the break-in numbers. At least that was the case last year. Because lockdown began in November 2020, many people were often at home. That is why Friedrich Kaiser of the Starnberg police can remember "maybe one or two break-ins" last winter. But the new "break-in season", which begins in the police language in November, is very different. Kaiser, head of the responsible investigation team, and colleagues have recorded 14 cases alone in the Starnberg area since the beginning of the month. And that only means apartments and houses. The perpetrators also targeted a bike shop and a tattoo studio.

The most recent example: two break-ins on the same day in the same street. As the police reported yesterday, unknown perpetrators were on the Carolinenstrasse in Söcking on Monday. Most of the time, they stole jewelry worth several thousand euros from one apartment. They didn't make it into the other by force either. In both cases, the prying open of the windows resulted in property damage of around 500 euros.

The booty (cash and jewelry) from a break-in in Söckinger Strasse in Starnberg last Friday is even worth 40,000 euros. Even at Mühleich in Starnberg, strangers pried open a patio door between Friday and Tuesday. “However, since the property had just been sold and handed over to the new owner, there were no worthwhile valuables in the building. Nevertheless, there was material damage here too, ”write the officials.

Police officer Kaiser cannot see a real pattern - except that the perpetrators almost always get in through poorly visible windows and patio doors facing away from the street.

There is also no evidence of an organized gang that is up to mischief at Lake Starnberg.

The fact that there is currently no real lockdown is the main reason for Kaiser why there are significantly more break-ins than last season.

“People go out more, there are no lights on in many houses,” he says.

In addition to the city of Starnberg, the east bank is currently a focal point.

Not only there you will see uniformed officers more often.

Kaiser announces: "We are increasingly on patrol."
