The death of the Tölz rifle captain Michael Nebel at the age of only 59 came completely unexpected for everyone.

His companions said goodbye at the Tölz cemetery.

Bad Tölz

- "He was the epitome of a proud shooter, and Michi was also a friend who left a gap that could not be filled," said Lieutenant Josef Binder.

As acting captain of the Tölz rifle company, he paid his last respects to Captain Michael Nebel, who died completely unexpectedly, at the funeral at the Tölz forest cemetery on Thursday.

The laying of the wreath was accompanied by a brass group from the Bad Tölz town band with the "Tölzer Schützenmarsch".

Michael Nebel was only elected captain in autumn 2020

"When we heard of the death of our captain, the world stopped for all of us," said Binder, recalling Nebel's days as an extremely proud ensign.

Nebel carried the flag with joy for over 15 years before he was elected captain in autumn 2020.

The 59-year-old was no longer allowed to go out with his daughter Kathrin as a sutler at the side.

Pastor Peter Demmelmair, who called Nebel a companion and a good friend, saw in the deceased a believer who liked to go to church.

"And that's why it had a good antenna upwards and is now well protected in God's hand," said the clergyman.

"It still pains us to have to miss a good comrade, dashing ensign and captain."

Numerous flag delegations at Michael Nebel's grave in Bad Tölz

The rifle company said goodbye to their captain with three gun salutes.

And pastor Demmelmair thanked him at the open grave: "God bless you for everything you have done, not only for the company, but also for many other associations."

And so, in addition to the Tölz rifle flags, the flags of the Association of Bavarian Mountain Rifles, the Isarwinkler companies represented by delegations and numerous associations from Tölz and the surrounding area also fell over Michael Nebel's grave.

Bad Tölz is also mourning another prominent citizen these days: Anton Krinner, Tölz veteran, well-connected real estate agent and passionate hunter, died at the age of 77.
