Unterallgäu - "We encourage consumers to buy organic Christmas trees that have grown in the Bavarian regions without artificial fertilizers and pesticides," says Helmut Scharpf, Chairman of the BN district group Memmingen-Unterallgäu.
"We want to get away from long transport journeys that pollute the climate, from pesticides that are used in most conventional plantations, and from fertilizer residues that often pollute water and drinking water." That is why the BN is presenting a regional one at Advent Shopping guides. New suppliers could again be added to the researched list of suppliers for organically produced Christmas trees in order to make it easier for consumers to make a decision. The BN also advertises forest owners, plantation operators and sellers to offer more organic Christmas trees.
The optimal Christmas tree comes straight from the forest, it is produced during forest maintenance anyway.
No agricultural land is lost here for Christmas tree plantations and no forest is cleared for it, which is forbidden, but happens again and again.
Overall, unfortunately, relatively few trees are offered directly from the forest.
"We appeal to forest owners and foresters to offer more Christmas trees from forest maintenance, there can be no better little trees," said Ralf Straussberger, forest officer of the BN.
According to the BN list, the only provider in our region is the Bavarian State Forests in Ottobeuren, the sale of Christmas trees from local forests by the forestry company will take place on December 17th, from 11 a.m., Abt-Kindelmannstr.
