The Zolling school association almost voted against mobile air purifiers in classes in the summer.

Now you have a different solution - at least for elementary school.

Zolling

- In July, the Zolling School Association rejected the purchase of mobile air purification devices for the Zolling elementary and middle school with a 4: 4 vote (we reported).

An engineering office had previously been commissioned to examine the possible installation of a central ventilation system.

The result, including the cost estimate, was now available.

Now the school association decided on Wednesday to at least equip the primary school building with such a central ventilation system.

The chairman of the school association, Helmut Priller, and the administration cited the advantages of such a central ventilation system over mobile air purification devices: not only could the virus load be reduced, but heat and moisture could also be recovered.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Priller also said that after installing such a central ventilation system, the windows could be kept closed to “let the noise outside”.

In addition, the air contaminated with viruses is sucked off where the pollution is greatest (namely under the ceiling), and the pollen count for allergy sufferers can also be minimized.

The engineering office Bauer Hofstetter from Eching had looked at both the north building, in which the middle school is housed, and the south building, in which the primary school is located.

Result of the feasibility study: The installation of a central ventilation system is likely to cost 614,000 euros each, which would then supply a total of 24 classrooms and various other rooms.

Rude awakening at funding amount

Important: The Federal Ministry of Economics currently subsidizes such systems with up to 80 percent of the costs, but with a maximum of 500,000 euros per location.

The invoice that the engineering office and the school association had put up read as follows: 1.2 million euros would have to be invested in total, and one million euros would then be given as a subsidy for the two locations.

But the calculation was made without the ministry: That, Priller announced at the meeting on Wednesday, sees the Zolling elementary and middle school as one location.

As a result, there is only 500,000 euros in funding.

And that in turn meant that the school association will not equip both schools with a central ventilation system, but only the primary school.

This left the school association with only around 120,000 euros in costs.

This procedure, which had already been agreed between the mayors in advance, was then unanimously approved.

Now the planning services are tendered and the funding applications are made.
