The demands and interventions of farmers and those concerned with the agricultural reality in Al-Hasakah governorate focused on the necessity of providing agricultural production requirements for the strategic crops wheat and barley to implement the agricultural sub-plan.
The participants in a meeting held in the Al-Hasakah governorate building in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Muhammad Hassan Qatana, stressed the need to finance the governorate’s farmers with sterilized and sifted seeds through the branch of the Seed Multiplication Corporation after canceling the requirement to submit a clearance to agricultural banks in addition to providing fertilizer for agricultural lands after the interruption of the material’s arrival for years .
The attendees called for postponing the payment of financial installments towards agricultural bank debts, financing farmers with financial loans for agriculture, switching to alternative energy, working to provide feed ration materials for livestock breeders, and increasing the allocated quantities that are distributed through the fodder courses that are opened by the Feed Corporation branch, in addition to Securing the veterinary vaccine for immunizing various types of livestock, exempting farmers from renting state lands, working to distribute them to farmers, and demanding the creation of a fund to compensate for agricultural damages resulting from terrorist acts.
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture indicated that the agricultural sector is one of the sectors that have been affected as a result of the terrorist war being waged on Syria, and there must be cooperation and solidarity to secure the needs and requirements for the advancement of the agricultural and animal reality, pointing out that taking measures and planning is not enough and there must be a permanent dialogue with the farmer in a way Direct to rectify any problem encountered, especially the high production costs and the availability of seeds, fertilizers and fuels.
The Minister of Agriculture stressed the necessity of not planting the lands with seeds of unknown origin that were recently introduced to Al-Hasakah Governorate from one of the neighboring countries because of this, as this poses a direct threat to the agricultural reality and land productivity.
The Governor of Hasaka, Ghassan Khalil, stated that the problems and obstacles facing the agricultural situation and farmers were presented, noting that 3000 tons of bad and infected seeds entered the province.
In turn, the head of the General Union of Peasants, Ahmed Saleh, warned against the seeds offered by the American occupier to farmers in the governorate, considering them a deadly poison to agricultural lands.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Al-Hasakah branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Eng. Turki Aziz, and a number of general managers.
