Tripoli, SANA- Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi called on the Libyans to continue receiving electoral cards, after a decision

Tripoli-Sana

Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi called on Libyans to continue receiving electoral cards, after the High Electoral Commission's decision to exclude him from the list of candidates for the presidential elections.

In a statement published today on his social media accounts, Gaddafi said, "We must all continue the process of receiving electoral cards and vigorously."

For his part, Gaddafi's lawyer stated that an appeal had been lodged against the exclusion decision, while Muhammed al-Qaloushi, a member of Gaddafi's political team, announced that a judgment in absentia had been used against Gaddafi, stressing that there was no final court ruling against him.

Al-Qaloushi stressed that the judiciary should not be politicized, refusing to return to the era of political isolation, as he put it.

It is noteworthy that the High Electoral Commission announced yesterday the exclusion of 25 out of 98 registered candidates in the presidential elections scheduled for December 24, including Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, because they are not qualified to run in the elections, according to it.

The Electoral Commission clarified that it had approved the preliminary list of presidential candidates and included 73 candidates, most notably Khalifa Haftar, Aqila Saleh and Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, provided that the final list would be published after considering the appeals within 12 days.
