Sonja Negele has headed the Tegernseer Tal geriatric care helper group since 1989. At the end of the year, she will step down as chairwoman.

A successor is being sought.

Rottach-Egern

- Sonja Negele, who founded the Helferkreis Altenbetreuung Tegernseer Tal in 1989, will withdraw from her long-term honorary position as chairwoman at the end of this year. She announced that at the general meeting. "Since I have a loyal team at my side for many years, I should be able to find a competent successor," hopes Negele. Until the election - despite her poor health - she will continue to be available with advice and action.

At the meeting in the Caritas senior citizens 'meeting center in Rottach-Egern, Negele thanked the manager of the Schwaighof senior citizens' home, Jürgen Pohl, and his employees for the many years of good cooperation and active support.

"We have many residents who have no relatives, which is why the group of helpers is all the more important," confirmed the two representatives of the retirement home who had come to the general meeting.

The appreciation of the population in the Tegernsee Valley underlines the annual donation amount, which has reached a high six-figure amount in the 32 years.

This meant that high-quality entertainment could be offered for over three decades throughout the year.

No major events and excursions possible due to Corona

In her review of the 2020/21 pandemic year, the outgoing chairwoman briefly summarized the most important points of the activities. Because of the corona pandemic, no major events could take place in the Schwaighof, bus trips to the surrounding area or boat trips on the Tegernsee in the current year. The expenditure of the Helferkreis in 2021 therefore focused on purchases in the Schwaighof as well as financial support for those in need in the retirement home and in the Tegernsee Valley.

Four therapy chairs with wheels and backrests were purchased for 10,760 euros so that the residents of the retirement home and their companions can enjoy small excursions outside the home.

Toilet chairs were obtained for two floors of the house for a total of 1204 euros.

The Hirschberg station received garden furniture for 1,597 euros.

All 130 residents of the home will receive a personal gift with selected personal care products for Christmas, for which around 3000 euros were estimated.

Christmas dinner is brought into the house

Since the popular Caritas Christmas dinner for needy senior citizens in the district cannot take place this year due to Corona, the needy people will receive the Christmas dinner by Caritas employees.

For this, the helpers approved an additional 2,000 euros.

It remains to be seen until the end of the year whether the group of helpers will contribute financially to the purchase of a new bus for the multi-generation house meeting center.

Negele asked urgently that her heart project Helferkreis, founded 32 years ago, will continue.

The board and members may help find a suitable successor.
