Nature is his workshop. None of his creations that has not been shaped there. Franco-Belgian choreographer and dancer Damien Jalet works as a shaman. He puts his art to the test of the forces that surpass him. Those of the sea, the volcanoes, the earth. This is what pushed him towards dance, he who had attended a theater and cinema school in Brussels:

“In these arts, there were not enough connections and reinventions. I didn't want to repeat things already seen. As a dancer, I understood that I could let myself be crossed by very strong and unknown energies. I improvise a lot to be as close as possible to my instincts and my intuition ”,

he said.

The 40-year-old is looking for a language related to some form of animal life or something visceral.

Like the director and anthropologist Jean Rouch, he is on the lookout for other states of consciousness.

It detects these gestures that the body no longer explains, but of which it keeps a deep memory.
