Fischbachau - The Fischbachau fire station is dilapidated and urgently needs to be renovated.

A decision has now been made in the municipal council as to how this should work.

Refurbishment or new construction - how should the fire station in Fischbachau continue?

This question was briefly discussed at the recent meeting of the local council.

Most important, however, was: When will it finally go on and what is the best way to get the project off the ground?

The urgency of this item on the agenda and a massive increase in the planned costs were also discussed.

According to community manager Johann Neundlinger, the first suggestions for the renovation of the fire station were made in 2018. Possibilities were explored, for example whether one would like to have two apartments above the vehicle hall as before and which subsidies are possible.

Approval was granted in March 2020.

The budget was set at € 380,000.

Fire department: costs around 2 million euros

The cost estimate by architect Florian Erhard resulted in completely different figures: for the renovation with conversion and expansion with a basement vehicle hall for two fire engines, the renovation of the two existing apartments on the first floor as well as the creation of a room in the attic and the construction of the outdoor facilities from parking spaces, for example, the planner estimates around 1.83 million euros. If the existing building is torn down and a new fire station is built, with a partial basement around 2.24 million euros or with a full basement around 2.42 million euros in pure construction costs.

"That is miles away from the budget," stated Neundlinger.

In the case of the plan variant with the apartments, he pointed out that there would also be some conflicts with the tenants, as there was no lack of noise from the fire brigade.

In any case, it is clear: "We need a new fire station - whether with integrated apartments or not."

Vote against in the local council

The previous duration of the processes aroused resentment in the committee.

"Now we are just as there as in March 2020 and nothing has gone on," said Josef Obermaier (CSU).

The manager explained that no reliable figures were available at the time of the original planning.

Now it is not about an immediate decision, but about the formation of a working group.

The urgency of the situation was also made clear by the first commandant of the Fischbachau fire brigade, Marinus Gasteiger, who was present as a guest at the meeting.

There is an urgent need for action and planning would drag on for three years.

"Please, please stay tuned," he concluded.

With a vote against, the local councils voted for the formation of a working group that will take care of the fire station.
