Two-wheeled drivers will be able to take a break.
While the measure was initially due to come into force next January, the Paris city hall announced that it was postponing the establishment of paid parking for motorized two-wheelers to September 1, 2022. The municipality justifies this postponement for technical reasons, according to France bleu Paris.
"We must first adapt the application platform for resident parking cards to owners of two-wheelers," explained David Belliard, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of mobility, specifying that the platform will now be accessible from July 1.
Strong dispute
“It is easy to demonstrate that motorcycles pollute much less than cars and that there is no reason to align the taxation of motorcycles with that of cars. It is not because the motorists let themselves impose racketeering for the parking that the bikers should do it too ”, declared at the beginning of October to the Parisian, Me de Caumont, specialized in the defense of the motorists, who had lodged an appeal on September 20 to contest the decision voted in the Council of Paris on July 6, 2021. The French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) has also demonstrated on numerous occasions to protest against an "unfair" decision.
It provides that from September 1, 2022, from now on, non-electric motorcycles and scooters will have to pay a tariff equivalent to 50% of that of cars in order to be able to park in the streets of Paris.
