Schlierachtal - You were called to highlight your buildings red to draw attention to the fact that hundreds of millions of Christians around the globe currently live in an environment in which they are violently persecuted, discriminated against or prevented from freely practicing their faith.
In the Schlierachtal, the church of St. Agatha in Agatharied (photo) was illuminated, and the parish church of the Assumption of Mary in Miesbach and St. Laurentius in Parsberg were also there.
The action of the papal relief organization has existed since 2015 and is not limited to churches.
Many government buildings are also illuminated.
