The cow is off the ice: As the Munich district court reports, Alfons Schuhbeck has been saved for the time being.

Investors take over three of the star chef's bankrupt companies.

That was decided in a creditors' meeting.

  • Star chef Alfons Schuhbeck (72) is in financial difficulties

  • Insolvency proceedings have been initiated for three of his companies

  • As has now become known, investors help out - and thus save the employees

Munich - Good news for Alfons Schuhbeck (72): His bankruptcy seems to have a happy ending.

As the district court announced, it was possible to reach an agreement at yesterday's creditors' meeting.

The business of the star chef will continue - just in a different form than before.

The background: A third-party application for insolvency proceedings was filed for Schuhbeck's Partyservice GmbH & Co. KG on May 25, and a separate application for Schuhbeck's Am Platzl GmbH and Schuhbeck's Gewürz GmbH on July 19, 2021.

From an economic point of view, Alfons Schuhbeck was finished with these companies - but they only form part of his empire.

Nevertheless, investors had to be looked for as part of the insolvency proceedings.

Munich: Investors take over Schuhbeck's bankrupt companies

The solution is now that the three bankrupt companies are transferred to a new one: It is called Schuhbeck's Company GmbH.

According to the district court, the insolvency administrator Dr.

Max Liebig (Jaffé law firm) "in close contact with the key stakeholders such as customers, suppliers and landlords" ultimately succeeded in "maintaining the business activities of the operational core companies."

In plain language:

Schuhbeck is economically saved for the time being.

All 90 employees from the three companies can also continue to be employed.

But: the star chef is depressed by a huge mountain of debt.

According to information from our editors, the creditors were faced with the choice of selling the bankrupt companies.

For them, however, it is more lucrative to continue the business of the Schuhbeck companies so that they can generate income at all.

A group of investors will take over the operations of the three companies on November 1, 2021. The insolvency administrator could not be reached to comment.

As recently became known, Alfons Schuhbeck will soon have to go to court because of his tax problems.

The Munich I public prosecutor's office had brought charges against the star chef.

The district court will now decide whether the indictment will be admitted.
