Syria renewed its commitment to strengthening the implementation of legal instruments related to the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
This came during Dr. Ibrahim Othman, Director-General of the Syrian Atomic Energy Authority, depositing the document of ratification by the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic on the joint agreement on the safety of spent fuel and radioactive waste disposal to the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Ambassador Rafael Grossi.
During the meeting, Syria's commitment to cooperate with the Agency and to fulfill its obligations under international agreements and joint programs was also discussed. Ways of enhancing technical cooperation between Syria and the Agency were also discussed.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Dr. Hassan Khaddour, Syria's permanent representative to the agency, and second secretary to the permanent mission, Monia Al-Saleh.
