At the height of Hübschenried, a 71-year-old Weilheimer at the wheel of his Opel Mokka had such a violent cramp in his arm on Wednesday morning that he tore the steering wheel and landed the car in front of a guardrail with no brakes.
Dießen
- According to the police, the man was heading for Dießen.
The officials say that it is very lucky that the guardrail was in place, because it prevented the car from falling several meters down.
“The entire front of the vehicle was literally destroyed by the force of the impact, as was the guardrail,” says Roland Nist, deputy head of inspection.
The damage is estimated at around 30,000 euros.
“As a miracle, the pensioner suffered only slight bruises as a result of the accident, but was taken to a hospital as a precaution,” it continues.
The district road had to be completely closed for about an hour to rescue the Opel.
