Murnau - When Dieter Wieland says that he has sacrificed the past 13 years to the Seidlpark, that is of course not true. Sacrificed? No not that! Rather, it was heart and soul and passion that tirelessly drove him to give the garden monument by the architect Emanuel von Seidl something of the splendor that it once had 100 years ago.

Dieter Wieland is now relinquishing responsibility as 1st chairman of the Murnauer Parklandschaften eV association. The office remains in the family. The club members elected Heidi Wieland, Dieter's wife, as their successor at the annual general meeting.

But every bet: Dieter Wieland will continue to clear out undergrowth with a pickaxe and spade and plant tree saplings.

He continues to work on new ideas and motivates donors to open their wallets generously.

Above all, Dieter Wieland will be happy about young people who discover their own love for the preservation of the Seidlpark.

Just like two years ago, when the boys and girls from the 'Menschen Hilfe' association came to help rebuild the Gloriettl with pneumatic drills and chainsaws.

Just in time for the 100th anniversary of Emanuel von Seidl's death in 2019, the replica of his former bathhouse was back in its original location.

To top it off, there was also a production of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', played by the Free Theater Murnau.

Active professionals

Dieter Wieland's eyes light up when he tells of the renovation of the ice cellar or how his colleagues prepared the Hirschenplatz. Wieland has little stories to tell about all projects: New steps up to Friendship Hill. New benches, new birches! The Murnauer Parklandschaften support group is a community - this quickly becomes clear - in which everyone contributes their hard work and expertise: forester, master carpenter, master gardener, landscape architect, landscape maintenance worker. Dieter Wieland: "We in the sponsorship group have every subject that we need to maintain the Seidlpark."

Unfortunately, the annual general meeting was also the moment to finally say goodbye to committed personalities.

Dieter Wieland names Sepp Gramer, who died on January 13, 2021: “Sepp Gramer was always there when we needed his help.

He also represented our interests in the Murnau municipal council. "

Dieter Wieland also remembers Ruth Rosner, who died on April 1st, 2021: “With the generous donations from Ms. Rosner, we were able to fulfill many of our Seidlpark dreams.

Your last big donation went to the shingle roof for the Gloriettl. ”Dieter Wieland's last statement of accounts came to an end with the applause of the club members.
