On the occasion of the day against violence against women today, Thursday, the women's emergency number Ebersberg reports on the increased number of cases and gives tips.

A color action should draw attention to the problem.

District

- The Ebersberg women's emergency number is already reporting a higher number of cases of violence against women than last year.

There are still two months left for the final statistical analysis in 2021.

In all areas of the advice center, the numbers have already topped, says Angela Rapp from the women's emergency number.

The numbers for prevention and second stage (women's emergency call project) have not yet been factored in.

Domestic and sexual violence can affect any woman, she explains.

“All classes, professions, cultures”: Over 20 years of work in this area let you speak from experience.

To raise awareness of violence against women, the “Orange the World” campaign will take place worldwide between the International Day against Violence against Women on November 25th and the International Day for Human Rights on December 10th be dived.

In Ebersberg, too, communities and local politicians are taking part in the campaign, "and people are also welcome to send us something in orange privately," said Rapp.

Women's emergency number: it is important to be alert

With a lecture that had to be canceled due to corona, the women's emergency number wanted to draw attention to the structural problem that promotes violence against women. The disadvantage of women has grown historically and is an expression of unequal power relations between the sexes to the disadvantage of women, according to the women's emergency number. Contempt and devaluation of women as a centuries-long process would enable misogyny, hatred and violence.

Recognizing a victim of domestic or sexual violence from the outside, "there is no general answer for that," says Rapp.

Every third to fourth woman is statistically affected by physical violence at least once in her life from her own partner.

“That's why I can't watch my neighbors meticulously all day,” says Rapp.

It is important to pay attention to family and friends.

Pay attention to statements.

If the suspicion arises that the other person might be a victim of domestic or sexual violence, one can only offer help.

"If necessary, you can get non-binding information from us," says Rapp.

"Every consultation is open-ended."
