There has been a lot of criticism recently, how do you deal with it?
Zurek: It would be a lie if I said that the criticism would bounce off me. I'm not the type for that. But people just don't make mistakes if they don't do anything. These are demanding days, some colleagues have been busy coping with the pandemic since February 2020 and are more or less working through it. They do this with great commitment and great dedication. The criticism, which basically related to my person, is taken personally by some. It was necessary to rebuild some of them.
Why were the incidences for Munich wrong?
Zurek: The figures were not up-to-date because we had exponential growth within a very short period of time that was not foreseeable.
We are now up to date and we have staff to follow up very quickly if it is necessary.

Where can you still get vaccinated?
Zurek: Appointments are made in the vaccination center, but there are waiting times. That is unfortunate. And it is also the case that we are fully booked for appointments until the end of the year. We are taking action, at the beginning of December we will have 50 vaccination teams, at the beginning of January 70 and then we will also offer mobile campaigns for which you do not have to register.
When does the city start vaccinating children?
Zurek: We are in the process of preparing a vaccination offer for the 5 to 11 year olds. I suspect that we can start the vaccinations on December 20th or 21st, probably in Riem with its own vaccination line.
Will it be possible to register children in the BayImco, but not yet?
Zurek: I very much hope that there will be a possibility by then and that the Free State will create the conditions by then.
