Heritage mingled with theater during the activities of the first day of the Al-Hasakah Cultural Festival, which is held by the Directorate of Culture as part of the activities of the Syrian Culture Days.

The events included an exhibition of heritage collectibles and folk costumes, which included holdings from the heritage of the Syrian island, including household and agricultural tools, sewing and folk costumes with beautiful colors and details that reflect the aesthetic and richness of the material heritage of the people of the province.

Researcher Ayesh Kulaib, a participant in the Heritage exhibition, stated that the exhibition was blessed with holdings, some of which date back more than a hundred years, with the aim of linking the young generation to the legacy of their ancestors.

The National Theater presented two performances, the first for children, entitled (Al-Baha Farms), prepared and directed by Abdullah Al-Zahid, and another for adults entitled (Defeated Time) written and directed by Ismail Khalaf.

The Director of Culture, Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the festival coincides with the celebration of the establishment of the Ministry of Culture to devote the nobility of our civilization and what it provided for the human and civilization heritage and the values of goodness and science.

The Director of the National Theater Ismail Khalaf indicated that the show of Al-Baha Farm talks about a farm whose branches and fruits wither after the death of the farmer, indicating that the show relied on songs as a main element in addition to comedy, while the characters were embodied by the actors Faisal Hamid, Salman Asyoud and Youssef Shaker.

As for the play A Defeated Time, according to Khalaf, it talks about the philosophy of life from birth and childhood to the stage of youth and the man's relationship with the woman.

In the same context, an exhibition of handicrafts was held at the Arab Cultural Center in Qamishli, which included a variety of works made by 38 women and girls.

In a statement to SANA reporter, the participants in the exhibition, Siham Ahmed, Fatima Muhammad Khalil and Sarah Hammad Al-Rakkad, indicated the importance of these works, which are an experiment aimed at exchanging experiences, reviving heritage in the region and achieving self-sufficiency.

The festival activities will continue until the middle of next week by presenting theatrical and artistic performances and exhibitions in the two cultural centers in the cities of Hasaka and Qamishli.
