Registry office, building office, broadband: Gerlinde Wimmer has become an integral part of the administration of the Forstern community.

The 53-year-old has been there for 30 years.

Forstern

- She runs the registry office, is responsible for the building office, has been in charge of IT for many years and, as broadband godmother, ensures that the internet runs smoothly: Gerlinde Wimmer has become an integral part of the administration of the Forstern community.

The 53-year-old has been there for 30 years, for which she was recently honored by Mayor Rainer Streu.

Gerlinde Wimmer started working in the Forstern community on June 1, 1991.

But she hadn't noticed it through a normal job advertisement.

The then incumbent mayor Josef Eicher had asked her if she should start in the administration, they were looking for someone.

At the time, Wimmer was employed by another congregation, "but it didn't work out so well internally, so I applied for Forstern and was accepted," says the mother of two adult children.

She learned in the Erding District Office, where she stayed for a few years before moving to another municipality for a year and finally moving to Forstern.

Soon afterwards she was able to train to become an administrative specialist.

Wimmer originally started in the registration office and registry office, but over time more and more tasks were added. She took over the contribution rights and the building authority from the then managing director Josef Ganter, took care of broadband and until recently also looked after the IT. “It's nice work, I enjoy it,” says Wimmer and admits with a smile: As far as her job is concerned, she is “burdened by the community” in terms of her family: Her dad was a community worker for a long time, and her sister Silvia Hermansdorfer has been the managing director of the Moosinning community since this year.

The activities in the building and registry office are very varied, "and you can also help shape and participate," Wimmer describes her work. But there is one task that she likes most: the wedding ceremonies. “Each one is beautiful, that's always something very special,” says Wimmer. They are also very flexible in Forstern when it comes to the design of the wedding. After all, the bride and groom should experience an unforgettable day.

"We don't have that number of weddings in the community now, but on average there are already ten a year," explains Wimmer. She herself has meanwhile married around 200/250 couples. She remembered many of them. For example a wedding where there were so many guests that they couldn't all fit into the wedding room. "Then they stood in the aisles and we opened all the doors," says Wimmer with a laugh and adds: "When people are happy, then I'm happy too."

All in all, she likes the diversity in the community very much, including the closeness to the people.

“I am happy to be there for the citizens, and you also get appreciation in return,” says Wimmer, who comes from Reithofen but lives with her family in Karlsdorf.

They often go camping in their free time.

“We like to drive ford”, says the 53-year-old - both Germany and other European countries are explored.
